Love Stories of Hawaii

My Everything
Dedicated to My Husband, Mike

Submitted by Janice

Well, our story began in November 1978 when I met the most handsome 16 year old fellow I'd ever seen. There he sat in Study Hall with that blonde hair and those blue eyes. We started dating, and three years later, he became my husband. See, he had gone into the military a year earlier after we got out of high school, and was stationed in Virginia. We couldn't stay apart any longer so we married in South Carolina on May 30, 1981, and headed back to Virginia to start our life together in a Ryder truck with "Just Married" written on the side in duct tape. We were young and had no money or time off, so we never had a honeymoon. After three years we returned to South Carolina. We were blessed with a son a year later, and then blessed again with a daughter almost eight years later. Over the years we have always traveled with our families for vacation, other than a couple of trips to Disney with our children. Although we have never been away alone together, we have alway
stayed strong and enjoyed the time we shared at home.

After a few years of marriage, my husband and I determined that once we hit our 25th anniversary, we were going to Hawaii for our honeymoon. Well, on May 30, 2006 we'll hit 25 years!

My husband wrote me a song many years ago called "My Everything". One part of the song says, "Now looking back, who would have thought that we could come so far…those crazy dreams….seemed out of reach….but I give all my heart to you, now the dream is reality."

Well, it's time for the dream to be reality. We wanted the honeymoon we never had, and Hawaii will definitely be a dream come true. After 25 years, I am still so much in love with my blonde haired, blue-eyed, best friend. And we know there's no better place in the world to celebrate our anniversary than in Hawaii, the land of love!
