Love Stories of Hawaii

Timeless Love

Many years together
Dedicated to Ray

Submitted by Anonymous

Ray and I have been married for 33 years. We were married very, very young. My Dad had to sign forms at the Courthouse in Allentown, PA so we could marry, because I was only 20! I was still in college, and because I had a scholarship through the Diocese of Bethelem, PA, I had to have the Bishop's permission to marry, and had to swear on a stack of Bibles that I would complete the last year of college. Well, it's 33 years later. We have raised 2 daughters and now have 5 grandchildren, a boxer dog and a kitty that thinks he is a dog. In addition, we have spent years taking care of my grandma,my parents, and my younger sister Mary during her 10 year battle with breast cancer. I remember the hours and hours we spent with Mary, the sound of her walker in the middle of the night, and the way he did everything possible to meet her needs. Those were the moments I loved him the most. I saw how he could be so patient, caring and considerate to my sister as she lay dying. He showed me a side of himself that most women don't get to see. I learned that he will not let anything deter him from loving someone, nothing! He spent many hours with Mary in emergency rooms, hospital rooms, and sleepless nights did not faze him. Even when my sister's husband called her bone marrow transplant, her "vacation in San Antonio", my husband stood by her and by me, as we waged the battle together. Mary may have lost her battle, but she gave me a gift, the gift of seeing how my husband supports the ones he loves. Right now, my husband is battling depression, and we are standing by him, as he stood by my sister. This is the man I love, I adore, for 33 years.

We need to go to Hawaii to reconnect, to rest, and to take a break from elder care.
