Love Stories of Hawaii

Summer Romance

Surfer Dude
Dedicated to Rachel, the love of my life!

Submitted by Chad

This story starts with a young boy, about 15 years old, and a young girl of about the same age. The story takes place on the north shore of Oahu. The boy and his family would take vacations to this island nearly every year. The young man, an avid surfer, loved to go for nothing more than riding the waves of Hawaii. The girl's family also frequented the island nearly every summer. It was no coincidence that they met the summer they both turned fifteen. The young man was entering a surfing competition, and the girl was volunterring to be a lifeguard for that day. While attempting to drop into a ten to twelve foot wave, one of the biggest waves of the day, the young man took a hard wipeout. After nearly two minutes the boy never surfaced, the girl, being the lifeguard on duty, jumped in to try and rescue the young man. Her efforts were successful and the yound man was forever grateful to the girl. As luck would have it, they frequented that same beach for the next three years, where they would form a freinship and the beginnings to something more. That fourth summer, however, the boy never returned. It seems his father had past away, and his family had to move to Kentucky where his mother had found a job. The young man could never forget his passion for surfing or the girl he had fallen in love with. In an effort some had said was foolish, the young man applied and was accepted to school at the Universtiy of Hawaii. Fate, however, was working on his side. The woman he had prayed would be there, was in fact now enrolled in that same unicerstiy. It didn't take long for them to find one another, and even less time to fall in love. They were soon married and look forward to spending the rest of their lives together.
