Love Stories of Hawaii

Timeless Love

The Shell
Dedicated to my husband, Dennis

Submitted by Susie

We were walking along Pebble Beach on the big island of Hawaii. My husband and I had just gotten married and were on our honeymoon. Strolling along the sandy beach on a beautiful summer day, my husband found one of those shells that you can hear the ocean when you hold it to your ear. He held it out to me and said " Listen. The sound you hear is my love for you. No matter when you hold this and listen, you will hear my constant love for you. It does not matter what time of day or night, tomorrow or 50 years from now. when you listen you will hear it. Long after we are gone and our great-grandchildren listen to this shell, they will hear and know how much I love you."

Twenty-five years later I still pick up that same shell and listen. I have no doubt how much my husband loves me. He tells and shows me everyday, but I still love to hear my Hawaiian love song.
