Second Chance Love

She was given to me for a reason
Dedicated to Gabrielle Olguin

The love of my life, my angel, my sunshine and my reason to stay married was born April 21, 1993. My husband and I were very unhappy in our marriage. My husband was sexually abused as a child. He held this secret for 30 years. At that point he began to show insecurities and anger. He was not able to trust anyone. This was starting to take a toll on our marriage. I was so sad and wanted out of my marriage. We had been married seven to nine years when all the horror started.

We were already parents of two little boys. I needed out somehow. I cried everyday. I prayed everyday for the strengh to deal with our difficulties. Some of my best friends were divorced or in the process. I felt so weak because I couldn't divorce him. In the midst of everything I had not had a menstraul period for seven months. That was not surprising because I was never regular. I decided to see a doctor. My doctor took a pregnacy test. It was negative. He then gave me a prescription to start my period. Well, I took it but my period never started. I then called my Doctor and informed him I had not started. He ordered an ultrasound test. As I was laying there having my test, the technician informed me I was pregnant. I was shocked to say the least. I cried all the time. I couldn't see myself pregnant with a marriage of constant arguing. I cried for the next six month of my pregnancy. I knew there was no way I could get out of my marriage now. It was unfair to bring a child into this unhappy home.

April 21, 2003 came and I had my beautiful daughter. I had no sisters only five brothers so daughter was perfect. I was so happy with my baby girl. I stared at her for hours. I never put her down. I would examine every little toe and finger. I stroked her lightly in a loving and endearing manner. She was an angel sent from God. She was the strength I needed. What a turn our life made. We were all so happy. Our marriage was one hundred percent better. My husband began counseling and continued to do so for three years. We have now been married for 22 years. I believe my daughter was sent to us for a purpose and I love her for it everyday. She completed our family.

Hawaii and all its beauty is loved every day just as my daughter is.
