Love Stories of Hawaii

Second Chance Love

Second time around
Dedicated to Naniki

Submitted by Larry

Wife Nancy and I married in 1963. Been there ... done that ... yawn.

We have been to Hawaii many times but one moment in Oahu was special. We were in the right mood, sitting above the beach at Chuck's Steakhouse at the Outrigger. Sipping wonderful dry martinis we were watching for the "green flash" and listening to live music from below. We were very mellow. While watching returning catamaran sailboats the couple next to us asked about the "green flash". I am a retired airline pilot so I explained the phenomena in as simple language as I could come up with. They sat back and stared at the horizon.

The green flash happened, cheers were expressed and my wife and I soon disposed of steaks done "just so".

Something happened during all this ... we were transported back to 1963 when we were married! No vows were renewed but the Hawaiian spirit hit us that evening. Wrinkles? We still have a few but spiritually, emotionally ... physically? Our relationship has been renewed.

To Hawaii and her people ... Mahalo
