Timeless Love

If I Could Have One Wish
Dedicated to My handsome husband Tim, My Hero

Submitted by Andrea

When my husband and I met we were just two kids in love, trying so hard to act like grown-ups. I was a single parent when I met him in 1991 and he brought such laughter and joy to my life when things seemed so hopeless.

In 1994 he was promoted into the US Army and because he was leaving for Germany for his first duty station we didn't have time to have a proper wedding. So I drove out from Vermont to Oklahoma and we were married by the Justice of the Peace in Lawton Oklahoma, a year later we flew home for our church wedding.

We were so excited to plan a real honeymoon and the money we had received from all our generous guests was a dream come true. Unfortuantely, our excitement was short-lived when we found out a custody battle was about to begin over my daughter...my husband was so determined to adopt my daughter that we used every last penny for our honeymoon on lawyers and yes he did indeed adopt her in 1995 in is home state of Maryland.

We promised each other that on our tenth anniversary we would try again, when we could save up enough and what a celebration it would be we thought. But again it was not meant to be, in September of 2003 he was called up in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and we spent our tenth anniversary (7/5/04)apart, longing not for an expensive vacation, but just to be in each others arms back home again.

In December of 2004, he arrived home safely and I can't tell you how very blessed and honored I feel to be married to this extraordinary man. He has given up everything for our family and for our country, you can't measure sacrafices like these and I guess my hope and prayer is that some day he might be blessed in return. He truly is an officer and a gentleman and he is my real life hero. If I could have one wish, it would be this, to be able to marry the love of my life all over again in what I can only imagine is God's earthly paradise, Hawaii. I love you Tim.
