Dedicated to My Wife Christine
Submitted by Tony
My wife Christine and I met on Long Island, N.Y. We were friends at first and after several years of knowing each other we became best friends. This friendship grew into love and we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
We packed our things and traveled to what seemed like the other side of the world, Washington State! The trip was amazing and once we settled in we decided it was time to get married.
We traveled back to New York and had a beautiful wedding with our friends and relatives. It was perfect.
Now Christine wanted to go to Hawaii and I suggested we go to Mexico. We talked it over and decided to go to Mexico. We left New York on our flight to Mexico and this is where I wish I could turn back time! We arrived in Mexico and our luggage was lost. Our room was not ready, the plumbing was broken, the food was terrible and the city we were in looked more like a war zone more than paradise. After four days with my beautiful new bride in tears, we left.
At this point all we could afford was to go back to Washington and drive up to Victoria Canada to finish our honeymoon. My wife being the wonderful person she is did not complain and made the best of the remainder of our trip and we enjoyed the start of our new life together.
It is now coming up on 17 years together, a beautiful 13 year old daughter, two dogs, and a lot to be thankful for. She is still my best friend and the best mother a kid could have. She has put aside money and possessions so she can be a good mother and give our daughter everything she needs to become a healthy, happy young lady. She always puts herself last and sees that her family comes first.
If I could turn back time I would go back to that day I changed her mind about going to Hawaii. Going to Hawaii has been something I know she dreams about and is a trip she more than deserves.
The clock is ticking and more than anything I would love to renew our wedding vows in the land of my wife's dreams, Hawaii. I could not think of a better way to say thank you for being such a wonderful wife and mother and that if I had to do it all over again, she would still be the one.
