Love Stories of Hawaii

Second Chance Love

Dedicated to William Hatzel

My husband and I met in 1995. I was a single mother working two jobs and going to college. From the moment I saw him I knew he was the one. We dated for about 2 years then got engaged and were finally married in March of 1999. In May 18 of 1999 my best friend died in a car accident. May 19 my friends mother passed away. I got pregant with our daughter Alexia in July of 1999, and needless to say our marriage was starting to fall apart. So much had happened, and there was so much sadness in our hears. We argued all of the time. We tried to make things work but it just seemed like no matter what we could not work things out. Here I was thinking about divorce with the man I thought was my soul mate. My husband one day came home and told me we were going to Hawaii, since we never had a honeymoon and we had never gone anywhere without the kids. Maybe it would help us reunite. We went to Maui. It was the most amazing experience of my life. We rented a car. Drove to the city of Hana. Splashed around in the many waterfalls. Went for long walks. Spent some much needed time on ourselves. We had quiet dinners and went snorkling. We saw turtles, fish, and so many beautiful flowers. We fell in love again. It was like meeting my husband again for the first time. We laughed and hugged. Needless to say we are still together today. We have Hawaii to thank. I really don't think that we would be as in love as we are today if it would not have been for the wonderful 5 days in Hawaii.
