Love Stories of Hawaii

Second Chance Love

I guess it was fate
Dedicated to The one love of my life

Submitted by Linda

Last summer I was sent on a business trip to Maui, Hawaii. I was reluctant to attend because I am a divorced mother of two children. Even though my daughter is 14 and my son 12, I was still a little bit nervous about flying that far of a distance. Luckily my ex-husband stepped up to the plate this one time, and I felt a little bit more comfortable about going. It was a vacation that I desperately had needed. The last time I was in Maui was about 20 years ago with a man I was engaged to, but unfortunately, I let get away due to my own stupidity. I guess I was just to young to settle down at that time. I hert him and his family terribly. I knew after it ended that he was probably the best thing that had ever happened to me. Over the years I have often thought about him. I guess we all have that special someone that one special person we can't seem to shake. That one person that when your feeling down you wonder, what would it have been like? Would we have been one of those couples who still look into eachothers eyes and are completely in love. Would he have been a man that I would completely desire after 30 years of marriage? Those secret thoughts that run through your mind, but that you would never bring up, even to your closest friend. Twenty years ago we had spent a week here. It was probably the most romantic experience I have ever had. Everything in my life was perfect for that one beautiful week in Hawaii.
I arrived in Maui on Sunday. The hotel was absolutely breathtaking. My room had a beautiful ocean view. I was scheduled to attend a couple of seminars in the morning of Monday and Tuesday , and the rest of the week was mine. The first night after dinner I took a long walk down the beach. The sunset was so beautiful, full of orange, pink, and yellow swirls. I found myself fantisizing about being in love again and remembering the time I was here before. I attended the seminar on Monday, as schedueld. I was out before noon. I changed into my suit, grapped my book, and headed down to the beach. I stopped by the bar for a Pina Colada. As I sat on the stool waiting for the bartender to finish making my drink, I looked over to my right, and sitting on the stool right next to me was the love of my life. I was in shock! I just stood their starring into his eyes. They were just as blue as I remembered. I found out that he had divorced several years ago. He had two children the exact ages of mine. Needless to say, that was the second most romantic experience of my life. We have been married now for over two years. I love him with all of my heart and soul. Everything I had ever wondered that could be possible in a perfect relationship is. I now that fate brought us together again. I will always love Hawaii.
