Timeless Love

Mom and Dad's love of a lifetime
Dedicated to Barb and Jim Herkel, my Mom and Dad

Submitted by Jill

My Mom and Dad were married in 1960. They headed to Miami Florida for their honeymoon. However, due to a hurricane in Miami, they were forced to spend their honeymoon in St. Augustine, Florida instead. They loved it so much in St. Augustine, that they vowed on their honeymoon that one day they would reitre and move to St. Augustine. Our family vacations were always spent in St. Augustine and then in 1986 my parents retired and we moved to St. Augustine. I was 15 at the time and was not happy about the move. Although I was a good kid, I gave my parents a hard time. Now I am an adult and realize the sacrifices parents make for their children. My Mom told me once that she always wondered if they made the right decision in moving to St. Augustine because I was so unhappy. I assured it was the right move. Of course now as an adult I understand the sacrifice and the power of dreams. My Mom has another dream and that is to go to HAWAII. I am only a school teacher so it will take me a while to save up the money to take my parents, but I will do it. Winning this contest for them would just make it easier. My Mom and Dad have the love of a lifetime and it is most obvious because of the love they have instilled in myself and my brothers. Romantic love, family love, REAL LOVE, that's what my parents are all about!!!!
