Second Chance Love

In Time
Dedicated to My loving wife, Holly

Submitted by Anonymous

In 1987, I was only in 8th grade, but I met the sweetest and prettiest girl I'd ever known. It didn't take us long to become good friends, eating lunch together and staying after school for various projects. Finaly at a chorus concert I got up the nerve to ask her out. She said yes! I was thrilled, however the very next morning brought heartache. She broke up with me due to the recent news that I was moving to Georgia and she would be staying in New York. She said we were already to close and it would only get harder if we were in a relationship. Then in the summer of 1988 i moved away. I would call a few times a year and I wrote a few letters stating my love for her,but to no avail. She wrote back telling me I'd just have to get over it. So I dated other girls, even though none seemed to measure up. Then my heart got broke again, in one of my phone calls she told me she got married. Now with no hope left, I was forced to move on and also married. As we had children we kept each other informed as to what was happening in our lives with infrequent phone calls. After only three years of marriage my wife left, and after seven years her husband told her he didnt want to be married any more. We continued to talk and encorage each other by phone until i got a job offer in New York. In 2000 I moved back and by 2001 we got married. We had five children between us and in 2003 we added our sixth and last. This comming October will be our third anniversary and we hope to finally take a honeymoon. My wife has told me countless times that she would have liked to honeymoon in Hawaii, and I hope to make this fantasy a reality. I'm truly blessed to have such a wonderful wife, and would love take her to her Hawaiin paradise.
