Dedicated to Whitey, my husband
Submitted by Karen
Whitey and I have been together for 15 years. We have been married for 1 year. In 1999, Whitey had major back surgery, which was back surgery number 4, which left him with a terrible unexplained pain in his side. Whitey and I have been to numerous doctors and hospitals and he has been through every test immaginable over the past 4 years, to no availe. He is extremely ill and in constant pain. Due to his back problems he has retired and now spends most of his days alone.
Through all this he has stood by me, with a smile and inspirational words, while I attend college and work full time My busy schedule takes up all of my time and doesn't leave much quality time for us to spend together. He has never complained. He always tells me that he is so proud of me and supports me 100% and no matter what I am not to quite college.
Even as ill as he is, he does the laundry, washes the clothes and dishes, cleans the house, takes care of the vehicles and lawn, has remodeled our newly purchased home and garage, which was in major disrepair. On top of all this, he gets up in the morning to cook me breakfast and prepare my lunch. I asked him one day why he gets up at 5:30 am everyday when he is so tired and sick. He said, "Because I love you and this way I can spend a little more time with you each day, even if it's only 15 minutes or so."
He is the most wonderful man in the world. Doing all these things for me and very seldom complains about how sick he is. I think a relaxing vacation in Hawaii would do wonders for him and his health.
