Second Chance Love

The Second Time We Met
Dedicated to Jim

Submitted by Jennifer

I met Jim thirteen years ago. We were both dating other people and while I remember there being an attraction our first encounter was otherwise uneventful. We lost touch shortly thereafter. Two years ago I received an email from Jim. The email was friendly and casual and it started our online friendship. At the time I was living in Seattle and he was in Houston so we never saw each other or even made plans to meet, although, I often wondered about what he was like outside of cyberspace. It had been quite a few years since our initial meeting and you can only tell so much about a person through email. Then, last year I decided to move back to my hometown of Houston, and two months ago Jim and I made plans to meet at a baseball game. I was a little nervous as I walked over to the section where our seats were located. Then I saw him standing there and he was smiling at me. My heart skipped. Was that possible? I walked up to him and we hugged. I had a calmness wash over me, like I had been on a long journey and finally made it home and at the same time I felt like I was flooded with electricity, I felt so alive! Over the next month our hearts and souls connected. I have been in love before but this was different, there is a passion there that I had never felt before. After only a few short months I found myself daydreaming about spending the rest of my life with this man. I dream about traveling to tropical places like Hawaii where we would lay on the beach and watch the sunset. I even find myself daydreaming about staying home and just watching television or reading the paper. I don't know what the future holds for us but I truly believe that I have found my soul mate and I can't wait to share my hopes and dreams, my heart and soul, and my unconditional love with him.
