Long Distance Love

Sugar Beach
Dedicated to My Husband

Submitted by Terry

Dear Bob,
Hello Bob, I can see you now, walking Sugar Beach, I know in my heart that's where you are.

We were packed for Hawaii, as uaual, in the cold winter when God took you from me. It took me 6 months to un-pack your bags.

But, I still have my memories of us in Hawaii, where our hearts were/are.

Remember those trips to Hana? Like, OK, we made it again. The most breathtaking views of anywhere in the world. Just to be there and see the whales, and hear someone blow the conch shell every night. Those were the good old days.

Remember the "wild" side of the island? Where we picknicked for so many years and named these places, "Hamburger Hill", and Hotdog Hill"?
We returned each year for 4 to 6 weeks and always returned to these places with our little grill.

Remember the picture of the white haired man with the bronzed tan in your billfold? You carried it for years and would take it out and say, "that will be me someday"?

Above all else you loved to walk Sugar Beach, the entire length of 7 miles. I would only go so far and return and get the car and pick you up at the other end, remember?

That's why I know you are leaving your footprints every day on Sugar Beach, for over 7 years now, and I will return someday.

And walk Sugar Beach again.

Goodbye for now, Aloha and Happy Valentine's Day.

Love, Terry
