Second Chance Love

Never Would Have Believed It!
Dedicated to My Huband

Submitted by Sharon

It was the sort of thing that I never thought would ever happen to me. I spent my time reading magazines, dreaming of love, honeymoons, trips to New Zealand and Hawaii. For some reason I had sweat shirts that I wore to work that had beatutiful scenes of both places on them, people said, "When did you go there?". I always said, "I never have but if pigs fly or if I get married again I just might do that". Very unlikely either thing would happen for me. I was in the category that they statistically say is the age at which you will probably not remarry. At 44 I had hit the group that the magazine polls gave no chance at all to find love.

One evening there was a knock on my door, I wasn't expecting company so I answered after looking out the little porthole. It was a man I met once at a 12 step meeting, he said, "aren't they showing films here?". What? was all I could come up with. We called around but were unable to find any place that films were being shown. We got to talking although he was terribly shy and I finally talked him into coming into my bedroom to play some video games. We talked long into the night and love began to peep around the corner.

It turned out that he was the son of older friends of mine, 9 years younger than I am, but very compatable. After the second night of being together we havent been apart for 15 years, stopping only to marry, way too soon in most peoples eyes. I have my miracle second love, what a wonderful thing this has been, I beat the polls but have not yet been able to take the trips to either Hawaii or New Zealand. That gives me something to look foreward to. I also have not seen any pigs flying.
