Dedicated to My parents
Submitted by Tina
Donna smiled warmly and blushed as the beautiful girl greeted her and placed a fragrant lei around her neck. She glanced at Richard as he, too, was greeted in the ancient style of the islands.
"Aloha," the girl said with a smile.
"Aloha," they chimed in response, and the girl moved on.
Richard took his wife's soft hands in his own timeworn, calloused hands and looked deeply into her eyes. "I told you one day I would bring you to Hawaii, my lovely bride," he said.
"So you did," Donna replied. "And you kept your promise, didn't you?"
"I always keep my promises, my dear. Always. Even if it does take me 50 years to do it."
"Fifty years…has it really been that long? It seems like only yesterday when I agreed to be your wife and now it's been nearly a lifetime…"
"I can't think of a better way to spend my lifetime, can you?" Richard said softly.
"No, not if I had 10 lifetimes," she responded. "I'd spend every one with you."
"Will you be my wife for all eternity?"
"Always and forever," she said. "Always and forever."
