Love Stories of Hawaii

Timeless Love

Double the Love
Dedicated to Matt & Andrew

Submitted by Lori

Writing a great love story would be easy. I'd talk about the romantic walks along the beaches of Hawaii, glorious sunsets which fill the sky with brilliance, and of course delicious dinners that would tempt even the most finicky eater.

Living a great love story is another thing especially for a single mother. When I'm not washing or folding laundry, making beds, picking up toys, shopping for and preparing meals, running from a basketball game to a baseball practice, or tending to another injury from the "most amazing bike rider ever", I'm doing my part-time job working with the youth at my church or I'm at my full time meaning the one I get paid for job.

Sure, every mom has the same stuff going on all kids are busy. Sure, every woman deserves a romantic getaway vacation. And sure, many will write engaging, poetic, and contest worthy stories.

My story will be short. You see, I am double blessed, because the greatest love in my life is times two. My greatest loves are two wonderful young men, ages 13 and 8. Not only are my sons my greatest joy in life, they are also some of the coolest people I have ever met. I'd rather hang out with them than most of the adults I know. I'd gladly trade romantic dinners for a couple of hot dogs and a funny movie. Champagne and strawberries could be bartered for an Xbox and the latest games. Beach volleyball and surfing could be substituted for a romantic walk along the beach.

You see, for me it's not about the romance with a spouse or a significant other it's all about the love of family, and I am completely in love with my children, which makes my family double blessed with love.
