Love Stories of Hawaii

Long Distance Love

Love at First Hand Shake
Dedicated to My future husband - Tupu Tupua

Submitted by Ruth

This all started back in January of 2002...I decided to run away with my little girl to Hawaii to be with a man I thought I loved and wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
After we arrived in the islands I realized I truely did not love this man and didn't want to spend the rest of my life with a man I didn't love. After I broke it to him he kicked me and my little girl out of his place. In desperation I grabbed the phone book and started looking thru the yellow pages for a church to attend that Sunday. I found one and attended. I was ushered almost up to the front behind this "huge" man. I couldn't even see around him. During the service they have a time when everyone turns around and meets those around them. When this big guy turned around to shake my hand our eyes froze! We shook hands and I felt something I've never felt before...both of us couldn't stop smiling at each other. As time went by we became really good friends and I told my girlfriends that one day I would marry that man.
I ended up having to move back to the mainland due to an illness in my family and we lost touch with each other. After some persuasion from some girlfriends to write this man a letter I sat down and told him how I truely felt about him.

Well as time went on the letter writing stopped and the phone calls started....those phone lines were burning! =) We both came to realize that we both really cared about and loved each other. During the course of one conversation he told me he loved me and that he thought we should get married... I asked him if he was asking me what I thought he was and he said yes...will you marry me and spend the rest of your life with me? Of course I said YES after I screamed and tore his ear off.
We'll be getting married June 26, 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii and I'll once again return to the land that I love. Unfortuneatly, we wont be able to afford a honeymoon due to finances and all so I'm really hoping that we'll get the chance to win this trip and have an awsome honeymoon in Hawaii as well!
