Second Chance Love

Birthday Present
Dedicated to Lucas Doherty

Submitted by Kelly

A little over four years ago a co-worker introduced me to the man of my dreams
her son. From our first blind date, we were inseparable. It was meant to be. We were instant best friends and soul mates. He was my tall, dark, incredibly handsome Italian, funny, intelligent knight I had been waiting for. He sang to me, wrote me love letters daily, danced with me in the kitchen while I made dinner, took me away on long romantic weekends, bought me a puppy, sent me flowers weekly with sweet messages on the cards. We hit some bumpy roads after a few years and decided to breakup. It was the most difficult time in my life.

About a year later, I ran into his mother who started crying the minute she saw me. She went on to tell me how her son was still in love with me. How he bought a house and pictured me in it. She said he was still pretty upset. I told her I felt the same. She gave him my new number and he called me that night. It was like a fairy tale hearing the voice of my prince charming once again. We started slow and talked a lot about our mistakes. It has now been a year; we live together and are planning for our future. A few months ago for my birthday he told me he would take me on any vacation I wanted to go on. So instantly I chose Maui, Hawaii. Where else would one go to get enganged...hopefully.
