Love Stories of Hawaii

Long Distance Love

Dedicated to George

Submitted by Lura

We arrived in Lihue in December.
It was the 6th. We were nervous, would we find our cottage? Would we even find the little town that we had researched for so long?
We had had an amazing flight. Both kids turned out to be great fliers.
We got our rental car, directions, and off we went.
We got to Waimea late in the afternoon, we were already starting to feel it.
When we spoke to our concierge we felt it a little more.
When we got to our lovely cottage at Waimea Plantation Cottages, it was there when we walked in the door.
We ate al fresco, it was chilly. "Hey, we could have gotten this kind of weather in Oregon!"
But even though it was chilly, it was warm.
If you have been in Hawai'i, you know what it is.
It is Aloha, it is LOVE!
We fell in love.
Oh I know we are not the first to fall in love with Hawai'i, and we surely will not be the last.
Since then we are still haole's on the outside, but we are Kauaians in our hearts. And so we live evey day far away from our love, but in love so deeply that sometimes it is through tears we prowl through our pictures, we read everything we can, we dream of our return-to wonderful Hawai'i.
