Love Stories of Hawaii

Timeless Love

Our Time
Dedicated to Rick

Submitted by Donna

This is the story of our marriage from 1975.

Rick was just turning 22 and I was just 18 years old. We met when I was 16 and I immediately fell head over heels in love with this man. We dated for almost 2 years, while planning our wedding. Our wedding day, July 5th, finally came after all the planning. It was a perfect day, and I have often said I would love to turn back time and just go through that day again, because it was a "perfect" day. However, in Rick's family, there was sadness as his aunt Eva was in the hospital with terminal cancer.

Therefore, on our wedding day, the only family on his side to be able to make it to our wedding, was his parents and brother.

While both of us understood, we still felt the sadness of his family's impending loss.

Therefore, we decided to forfeit a honeymoon and go spend the days just after our wedding in a clinic in Bluffton, Indiana with his family. We had money in the bank to go anywhere we would have wanted to go, but we felt such a sense of "family", we put ourselves aside for that time. Now, almost 28 years later, we have still not had a honeymoon. So, we have talked about going to Hawaii for our 30th anniversary in the year 2005, but if we could get there sooner, we certainly would have no problem celebrating our anniversay and our belated honeymoon early! Hawaii has always seemed like a tropical paradise of dreams to me. I have only heard stories of the beauty from friends and family who have made the trip. Not once have I ever heard one negative word spoken when Hawaii has been in the conversation. This would be like a dream for us to be able to spend a honeymoon on the island of would be the dream of a lifetime........the honeymoon of a lifetime with the man I fell in love with all those years ago and have fallen in love with him over and over again. What a celebration it would be!
