Love Stories of Hawaii

Long Distance Love

Following My Heart
Dedicated to Everyone who has lost fate

Submitted by Karen

To the people who have lost all hope and stopped believing in love. In April of 1999 I needed to change my life and set out for a carreer contract in Yokohama, Japan. I was living in Va. Beach Virginia where my life of hopelessness began. I was in relationships that were always finding dead roads. I was alone and gave up on finding love in my life. I left for Japan in hopes of new direction. On May 12th 1999, I was in a small bar named "Popeyes" in Yokuska, Japan where a shy man came to me and introduced himself. I thought nothing of it and ignored him. As I was leaving to go back on the last train of the evening, he offered me a drink, I declined because there was a drink beside him thinking it was for another woman. His answer was " That is for you hoping you would sit next to me". I sat down and I told him I had to leave for the train, my only way home. He convinced me that he would take care of me. For the first time in my life I heard those words. He was in Japan on West-pac from Hawaii and he was the most loving man I ever met. We spent every lasting moment together and forgetting he was leaving soon. I was devastated when he left. For the first time in my life something felt good, just felt right..I was in love with him.It hurt so bad thinking I would never see him again. We tried keeping in touch over the time we were apart and when he went back to Hawaii, he called me a few days before Christmas and told me that he had bought me a plane ticket to spend the Millinium with him. I was scared and excited all at the same time. I remember now reminiscing romantic walks on the beach, him singing to me as he played his guitar, hours of talking, and out road trip to Hana, but most of all New Years Eve where he told me he loved me for the first time on Waikiki.I fell in love with hem all over again, and realized it was always there. We are happiliy married now and have a daughter of a previous relationship and a precious little baby boy to complete our family. Hawaii reunited me and my life time love.Something I stopped believing in reunited us from across seas and miles to where we now share togther. A lifetime of love, warmth happiness, and most of all...fate, forever.
