Second Chance Love

My Soulmate Waited For Me
Dedicated to Chad Goodman

Submitted by Jamie

I had been friends with my now husband, Chad, since elementary school. In high school he revealed to me his true feelings of love. I rejected him, not wanting to ruin our wonderful friendship.

When I was 19, I married someone who was exciting and very different from me. He was in the military and I moved to another state and started a family. Every now and then, Chad and I would keep in touch.

After several years of an unhappy marriage, I found the courage to get a divorce and start a new life with my two young children, back in my homestate of Michigan.

Late at night, when I could not sleep, I often thought of Chad and our wonderful talks. I wondered if he were seeing someone or if he ever thought of me. At three in the morning on one of those nights, I got out of bed to write Chad a letter. He did not reply.

Several weeks later, I ran into him and we decided to go out to dinner as friends. It was terrific. I talked and laughed like I hadn't in years. We started to date.

A few months later, he asked me to marry him. I joyously accepted. We decided we wanted a small, intimate ceremony. The obvious choice was the beautiful state of Hawaii on the island of Kauai.

The morning ceremony was held on Tunnels Beach and consisted of Chad, the minister, the camera man, and me. It couldn't have been more perfect.

Nine months later, I gave birth to my third child. Now, my family is complete and I could not be happier.
