Second Chance Love

Taking Chances
Dedicated to Bill Hansen, My Prince Charming

Submitted by Cherie

I have been divorced for a little over 3 years and have a daughter 11 years old. I haven't gone on any dates in 2 years and my boss, Terri, thought she would help me by giving me some personal ads. For a month I ignored the booklet Terri gave me, but finally one Friday afternoon in late April, when I was cleaning up, I came across the booklet and started reading it. Most of the ads made me laugh, but one short, sweet, simple one caught my eye and made me return to it several times. Finally, I decided I would take a chance. I wrote down a paragraph to explain myself and made the phone call to His code number.

A week went by. Then He called me on a Sunday afternoon. His name is Bill. We spoke for 3 hours. We talked about all kinds of things; the music we like, our pets, our former marriages, families and where we have traveled. Bill has only been up and down the East coast, but I told him how my family and I traveled all over the US and that I have even been to Hawaii (2 times!).

We finally agreed to meet, but it was 3 weeks before we both had room on our calendars. May 12 was the big day! I was extremely nervous about meeting Bill, even though we spoke to each other on the phone every day.

When we did go out on our 1st date, we spent 12 hours talking about everything! We have so much in common. It's really amazing! We started seeing each other every weekend and my daughter thinks he is a great person. We love each other so much that in June he proposed to me and I accepted. We have set our date for this July and we have decided to go to Hawaii for our honeymoon. (My daughter will stay with her grandparents that week!) I hope he loves it as much as I do!
