Honeymoon in Hawaii
Dedicated to My dearest husband, Walter Kelley

Submitted by Jodi

My life was changed forever during the events of 1999. I was mugged walking to my car and had my nose broke. I finally left my boyfriend after many months of emotional stress while dating him. I had a car accident, which totaled my car, but left me with barely a scratch. It did however leave a lasting impression on me, and made me realize how short life really is. I then decided to have genetic testing for a degenerating disease that runs in my family, which my mother is currently suffering from. I sought the advice and help of a genetics counselor. She helped me through the process, and the agonizing waiting of the results. I turned out negative, but wasn't really as happy as I thought I would be. I spent many years accepting the fact that I would never have children or probably even marry, so I had to learn a new way of thinking.

Shortly after receiving the results I decided that I wanted to find Mr. Right, I wanted to have children, and I wanted to live happily ever after. I turned to the Internet hoping to meet someone. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would find my future husband so quickly and easily. It all started with a couple of e-mails, and then a couple of long telephone conversations, and finally a first meeting.

We decided to meet at a restaurant, and when I arrived and saw him standing there if front of me I wanted to melt. Here was this tall, dark, and unbelievably handsome man who was there to see me. He brought me a rose, and some candy, which apparently I had mentioned during one of our conversations. Wow, a man who really listens, and is thoughtful! I honestly fell in love at first sight. After our somewhat quiet meal we decided to see a movie. It wasn't starting for a while, so we went for a drive. He held my hand in the car, and was very reassuring to me, without words, that he was feeling the same excitement that I was. After the movie we were sitting in his car and I suddenly got very nervous and shy again. I started to get out and leave, but he stopped me and kissed me. Now I really wanted to melt. Everything was perfect and I realized I was starting to live the fairy tale that I had always wanted.

We dated exclusively until December 20th, 2000, the anniversary of our first date. That's the day he asked me to marry him. We decided to have a small wedding with some family in Hawaii. Since I never really imagined getting married this was the perfect alternative. The ceremony was held in a tropical garden right near the ocean. Everything was simple, yet magical. The family returned home and my new husband and I enjoyed our Honeymoon in Hawaii. The End
