Love Stories of Hawaii

Timeless Love

It's Time
Dedicated to Dale

Submitted by Lesley

We really had no time--and surely no money --for a honeymoon in 1971 when we were married. Dale, my husband, was just home from Viet Nam and we needed every penny he could make! During our first 9 months of marriage, I was injured in a serious car accident, we lost our first baby and then our lovely new home burned to the ground! We had no home and no car, so any ideas of a honeymoon were pushed to the very back burner. Life has been good for us, however. We've never been wealthy, but we have surely been "rich"... in love, family and friends. We have loved and nurtured each other through some tough and wonderful times. When our youngest of 4 children was 3, my arm was traumatically amputated in our business. It was successfully reattached but Dale spent years taking care of and helping me with never a word of complaint. We have often planned our "dream vacation" to Hawaii... but it seems there was always something else that came up to use the money.. such as, last year we took in our 3 grandchildren to raise for a while. October 16, 2001 we will celebrate our 30th anniversary. We have so much fun together and since Dale is my dearest friend, I'd love for him to be able to enjoy a trip he richly deserves!
