Love Stories of Hawaii

Timeless Love

Bittersweet
Dedicated to My husband, James

Submitted by Lynn

The face of the man I love has gotten older, change is inevitable I know, but a face that is as good, as kind and as handsome as when we married in Hawaii over 20 years ago. The worry lines have etched in deeper and maybe the salt and peppered hair is more pronounced.

I love him with such passion because he is my husband, my best friend, the love of my life and now, my caregiver. I have a debilitating illness that has put us through a lot these past three years. It has prevented us from doing a lot of things we used to be able to do together.

We grew up in Hawaii and moved to Washington state in search of a better life and monetary gains, giving up a lifestyle we now miss. But what memories I have of Peter Pan and Wendy in Hawaii, never wanting to grow up. Dancing under the stars outside of the Waikiki Shell, listening to the Peter Moon band playing "Flying," and seeing the moon rise over Diamond Head. Eating shrimp at the shrimp farm after playing rounds of golf at the Kahuku golf course and barbecuing at Ala Moana beach park after work.

Who knows, maybe one day we'll return to the place called Paradise, to Hawaii, and never have to grow up again.
