Dedicated to My husband, Don
Submitted by Diana
In 1963, our senior year in high school, Don and I attended our senior prom. As with most proms, the night was filled with the promise of happy memories, corsages, photos, and special songs. Our last dance was to the song, Misty, by Johnny Mathis, and that memory lives in our hearts today.
For several years following our prom Don and I dated, and in my early 20's I knew he was the man I wanted to marry. That; however, was not meant to be, and eventually we went our separate ways and married others. It was not until twenty three years later after we were both divorced that we would meet again.
Even though we had led different lives, we discovered that, inside, we were the same two people who had loved once loved one another. When we married in 1991 "our song", Misty, was played as we walked down the aisle to become man and wife.
Our story does not end there. We also had a common goal, and that was to retire early and move to Hawaii. In 1995 we realized that dream, sold our home in California, and moved to the Big Island of Hawaii. We lived there for four years, but have since returned to the mainland to be closer to our families.
The four years that we lived on the Big Island are memories we will always hold dear, and we hope to return as often as possible to visit good friends and relive the Aloha and beauty of the state.
Our song, Misty, and our life in Hawaii are two memories that will be with us the rest of our lives. Our "second chance" was one of the best!
