Love Stories of Hawaii

Second Chance Love

In Your Dreams
Dedicated to Our Prayer Warriors

Submitted by Carol

My husband, John, and I were married in June of 1997. But, the journey to the altar was wild! We met in the Spring of 1992, began dating in January 1993. Then, in January 1994 John moved to another state. We tried to maintain our relationship long-distance, but it was more than we could handle. So, on January 2, 1995 we broke up. I was devastated. I believed very strongly that John was to be my husband, so I never gave up hope that we would be married. All my friends told me I was crazy to continue hoping for that dream, but I refused to let go. After more than two years, they all were convinced I was never going to get over John. Unbeknownst to me, a mutual - and dear - friend of John and I's arranged for us to meet in Orlando for a vacation. John knew of the plans. I did not. Our friend had told me I would be meeting HER for a vacation. We spent a week in Orlando, got engaged two weeks later on April 25, my birthday, and were married less than two months later. John and I both would tell you that as difficult as those 2 1/2 years apart were, they were great times of growth for each of us. That time apart prepared us for each other and the joys and delights of marrying the person of your dreams!! Hawaii would be a great place for our second honeymoon because that is where we wanted to go the first time around but couldn't afford it - especially after a week in Orlando at the Disney Parks! Our story is proof that if you believe a person has been chosen for you, the second chance to connect is so much sweeter than the first ever was!
