Love Stories of Hawaii

Long Distance Love

Dedicated to Brad DuBois

Submitted by Kris

This is a story of two very busy people who fell in love first, then met. In other words, love at first sight.

I lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, the self-proclaimed vacation capital of the US. I had a very demanding job and no time for social activities. A girlfriend came to visit and couldn't believe I had no social life at all. She talked me into going into a chat line while she was here. I was scared to death to talk!!!

About two weeks after she left, I tried it again. I went into an online dating service. My reaction was that I was losing my mind, but it could be fun. I was very quiet at first until I got to know the personalities in the chat room. Well, one night a new person came in and we chatted for a short time about things such as vitals, location, and interests, places we have been like the Bahamas and Italy, places we would like to go like Hawaii and Alaska.

Well, Brad came back again and again. We finally exchanged e-mails. The dating service asks you several questions, so they can match you up with the right person. Brad took what I told him about myself and looked at his matches and I was considered a 100% match. I was very surprised, because he was not on my list at all. Well, the next meeting we exchanged phone numbers. I was so nervous. I was very surprised the effect his voice had on me. Well, from then on, we talked for a couple of hours every day and really got to know each other. We were getting very close and the only problem was that we both were falling in love with a person we had never seen. Also, I live in Las Vegas and Brad lives in Seattle. Would I move or would he move? We finally decided to meet in person and see where this was going. Up to this point, we had not exchanged pictures at all. We decided not to and keep it a mystery.

Well, the big day finally came. Brad was coming to Las Vegas. I arrived at the airport about an hour early, so I could be ready. We had described our clothing to each other before he left, so we would not pick up a stranger! The plane arrived and the passengers were deplaning. My hands were sweaty, my heart was racing, and I thought I am crazy. When he walked into the terminal, I was astounded. He gave me a big hug and a very long kiss. It was like we had known each other forever. I felt like I had found my soulmate. Well, we had a wonderful week in Las Vegas and it was heartbreaking to let him go. We had agreed that I would eventually move up there. We wanted to be together. Well, within a month, I relocated to Seattle. I have been here now for 5 months and everyday is astonishing. When we look into each other's eyes, the outside world does not exist. We both feel like we have been together before and we are just picking up where we left off. Everyday we treasure each other, because we know what it would be like without the other.
