Timeless Love

The Next 25 Years
Dedicated to Denise

Submitted by Anonymous

In spring and summer of 1996, we went through a very traumatic event in our life together. My wife was being stalked and she was obsessed by a fellow worker. Even after 25 years of being together and knowing each other, doubt can be brought to you. It is easy to become so involved our everyday life that we lose sight of what we take for granted and what really is the reason that our life has been so great. It is not our success and material rewards, but it is the sharing with the one's that we love.

We had already planned a trip to Hawaii in the fall of the past year when we were going to go to Maui and Kauai. This seemed like the opportunity to get away from the turmoil and for us to be able to be with each other. Our brother and sister-in-law made the trip with us. The day before our departure, I called and made arrangements with a service on Kauai for Denise and myself to re-new our wedding vows. This was a way for us to strengthen our commitment, to realize what we have, and how to keep it new. So when we arrived on Maui, we asked our brother and sister-in-law to be part of this traditional Hawaiian wedding when we arrived on Kauai.

The wedding was held under our condo at Pali Ke Kua at the gazebo on the beach at sunset. It was the most beautiful day not only for eyes, but also for our hearts. To understand the meaning of the words, and to be in a setting that meant so much, can really not be understood by anyone else but us.

The next day we had the opportunity to meet and talk to Roy Gonzales Tabora and his wife at a gallery showing and to understand what he was conveying when he painted the painting that we fell in love with. When we purchased the painting, Mr. Tabora wrote to us on the bottom to celebrate our 25 years of love, passion, and inspiration for another 25 years. To be able to look at this painting and words everyday and be reminded is very inspirational.

It is very easy to see that Kauai and Hawaii hold a special place in our hearts. We have returned two times since to the same spot, and it has not lost any of its magnetism to us. I would give anything to be able to present a special trip to my wife to return to Hawaii. Once you have been there, you will want to go back over and over again and to stand on one special spot that belongs to you only in your heart. Mahalo, Don.
