Second Chance Love

In l96l, a recent college graduate was assigned her first teaching position in northwest Ohio. During the first fall, she fell in love with a recently divorced young man. Her name was Phyllis and his was Gordon.

The young couple enjoyed doing so many of the same things together. They were both from small towns, raised Protestant, loved to play tennis and golf. They also liked dancing, movies, and the theatre. They even liked the same kind of food.

Gordon and Phyllis met on November 29th, 1961 and were married on June 23rd, 1962. (Take note the significance of these dates 38 years later.) They were very much in love but needed some assistance in communication skills. Two sons were born to this union. Gordon and Phyllis were married 26 years before their communication was completely broken down. They were divorced in l988. Each of them went their separate ways.

In l998, a younger son was married. There was some conversation and friendliness. In l999, the older son was married and things became more friendly. Phyllis' Mother passed away and Gordon was present at the funeral. Little by little they became friends again. After being apart for 12 years, something wonderful was about to take place. On November 25th, 1999 (Thanksgiving), a romance was beginning to blossom. Gordon and Phyllis fell in love again. Phyllis is presently wearing her old engagement ring with a new setting. Gordon suggested a wedding date of June 23rd, 2000. This is our anniversary and we will be remarried on that date! On February 9th, 2000 the happy couple will be vacationing on the islands of Hawaii!
