"Ode To An Anniversary"
Dedicated to Bob and Bardy Glassley
Submitted by Cynthia
As the couple reclined against each other, their anniversary being so near.
They wondered what lie ahead for them
in the next fifty years.
When they returned to their Arabian-like pavilion, billowing in the wind,
they remembered a time, not so long ago,
the way camping had once been.
The energized, sensorial coverlets and the somnolent pouches, were they any better? They had been called electric blankets and sleeping bags when he had first met her.
"Some things will never change," they mused, about to begin to snore. "Those soothing sounds of distant waves crashing the Hawai'ian shore."
